For me the ocean has always bought me peace and tranquility. My life, like the ocean, has had many highs and lows. The ocean is where I would find my peace of mind or a place to celebrate and feel alive. That is what I hope becomes transparent in my paintings. I hope they bring the traditional good luck to Fishermen and Sailors and a sense peace ...the kind that only the ocean can provide. Fishing is my passion and the need to create art, escape from the normal, travel and island life seems to run in my family’s bloodline.

It was in tenth grade that I became infatuated with this unique art form. Infatuation with the ocean came long before. Not until about a year ago did decide to embark in the possibility of entering the professional art world. I had spent years lost in the career “Rat Race”... I never belonged. Everything I had ever done or worked for never made me feel accomplished, inspired or happy. Until I started painting. I have to say there was much hesitation, for I didn’t attend a fancy art school, nor did I really know exactly what I was doing. I knew that my Gyotaku was not traditional and didn’t know if people would accept and see that the essence of this 100 year old Japanese art form is respectfully present.

I have disregarded all these fears and decided to introduce them to the world. I hope you like them!
